truth

If our enemy can shift our focus away from the truth of our
oneness in Christ and onto his elaborate distractions, he knows we'll eventually downgrade the importance of our unity.

With our eyes off the truth, we'll unwittingly sit down at his table, ready to discuss unity on his terms. He'll present us with a menu of 'reasons' that seem legitimate but are actually
poisonous spiritual pills.

Though they don't taste good, with our gaze on his backdrop,
we stomach them and resign ourselves to losing
our original belief in our oneness.

Have you ever stopped to notice the multitude of excuses out there that masquerade as good reasons for accepting disunity?

Like a mountain of downward pathways, they all lead away
from the same place where we once began.
Most of these reasons or pathways don't interest us –
we might not care about 'grace' vs 'hyper-grace'
or modern music vs. hymns.

We're not swayed by minor differences in scriptural interpretations. However, the enemy only needs us to buy into one discrepancy, no matter which one, for his plan to work.

We can be sure that he has a tailored approach for each of us, all leading to the same end result.
Doctrinal interpretation is an obvious avenue, but there are countless others. Insecurity, ambition, pride, and fear are just a few of the many paths that funnel us away from the truth and our belief in our oneness.
Imagine these as primary colors or paths, but with a vast spectrum of shades and nuances. Wherever we look, paths seem to abound, and our choice appears to be not whether to choose, but which path we'll take.

He has an endless supply for us to choose from, he will without doubt, find us one 'reason' or path that we will accept,
that feels least uncomfortable to us.

I'm not referring to a reason that causes disunity, but rather a subtle distraction that takes our eyes off the spiritual fact that we're ONE in Christ – a crucial distinction.

It's like standing at the peak of a snow-capped mountain
(the moment we first believed), and we'd like to stay there,
but our enemy wants us to slide down.

He's not particular about the route; any direction will do,
as all paths lead away from our belief in our oneness.
Once he's captured our belief, he knows our response and actions will follow a predictable course,
mapped out clearly before us.

One path we often hear about, especially among ambitious leaders, is the route down disguised as an 'amicable separation.'

For example:
'We're parting ways from our church or ministry
with no bad feelings; we're starting a new,
where we can serve God more effectively.'

This sounds positive to our carnal mind, and even our spirit might think it's for the best. However, it's another subtle poisonous pill from our enemy's endless spectrum of paths down, designed to erode our faith in the truth of our oneness.

We know it happens frequently, and the reasons, paths,
and excuses seem legitimate, understandable, and unique.
Yet, behind the veil, we see in the spirit that they're all heading
in the same direction – away from the truth of our oneness.

For Satan, this outcome trumps everything,
a price worth paying. Losing a knight, rook, or bishop
(a new impressive church or ministry established)
is a small cost compared to checkmate, which is ours already.
